Alesandro De Maddalena - Talk on Orcas of Norway


Alessandro De Maddalena is one of the world’s foremost marine predator experts. He’s a researcher, writer, illustrator, photographer and expedition leader. He is an Adjunct Professor of Vertebrate Zoology for the post-graduate course in Marine Sciences at the University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy, and has hosted over 40 expeditions for the observation of great white sharks (in South Africa, Australia, and Mexico) and orcas (in Norway). He is the author of 20 books and over 100 articles published in 18 Nations, The lecture, Orcas of Norway" lasts approximately two hours, and is accompanied by beautiful photographs that De Maddalena shot during the expeditions that he has hosted. The lecture covers the following topics: biology, diet and predatory tactics of orcas, field observation in Norwegian waters, relationship of this species to humans. At the end, the lecturer will answer the questions of the audience. The talk will be given in English.This lecture is part of a tour that has already been hosted at important institutions such as the University of Budapest, and the Natural History Museums of Vienna, Bozen and Trento.
