Jeremy's musical career began in his small, home town of Chinhoyi, Zimbabwe, where his passion for guitar catapulted him into a gigging rock band, touring his country from the age of 14.  After completing his A-levels in Harare, he moved to Cape Town, where he obtained a BMus Honours in Jazz Performance.

Summer Sunday Jazz Concert

The Summer Sunday Jazz Series
Arranged and presented by Dan Shout

Sunday - 29 January - 18h00 arrival - 18h30 concert begins

Will feature Dan Shout's In With a Shout. In With a Shout is a contemporary, African jazz-fusion project lead by saxophonist Dan Shout, featuring music arranged for three tenor saxophones, clarinet, flute & soprano saxophone. The 6 piece band is comprised of some of Cape Town's top session musicians, such as Andrew Ford (piano), Marc de Kock & Justin Bellairs (sax), Nick Williams (bass) and Unity Mzi (drums).

The compositions reflect Shout’s life-trajectory through Southern Africa – his family’s emigration
from Zimbabwe, his formative years in the Namib desert and his spiritual homecoming to the slopes
of Table Mountain where he now resides.

The music is infused with the sounds and souls of the music and musicians. Dan has been exposed to
and with whom he has performed – luminaries such as Winston Mankunku Ngozi, Darryl Andrews,
Mike Campbell and Johnny Clegg to name a few.
